Mineral paint versus synthetic paint
Mineral paints, such as lime paint and silicate paint, bond chemically to surfaces like concrete, brick and natural stone. They are naturally vapour-permeable, allowing water vapour to escape while keeping liquid water out. Synthetic paints, such as acrylic or alkyd paint, bond mechanically and are suitable for wood, metal and masonry. They offer good protection and versatility, but are generally less vapour-permeable than mineral paints. Ask a professional for advice on which paint best suits your facade or interior.
